Mitt and the Mandate

In case you weren't convinced that health reform's individual mandate has GOP roots, the not exactly liberal Wall Street Journal has unearthed a trove of emails from Mitt Romney when he served as Governor of Massachusetts and signed the law creating health reform -- with an individual mandate -- on which the federal health reform law is based.  These emails unmistakably represent evidence that Governor Romney supported -- even advocated for -- the individual mandate.

And so it is so sad that we might lose the individual mandate to the Supreme Court or a President Romney due to politics rather than what's best for America.  Isn't what's good for Massachusetts good enough for the rest of us?  If not, why not?
