Although there is some question about the availability of sufficient funds for the high risk pools, the Kaiser Family Foundation reports that, in fact, the federal government will foot the bill for the expansion of Medicaid. States complaining to the contrary are just plain wrong. More from the Washington Post here. It reports that, in fact, states may end up MAKING money on the Medicaid expansion because it will eliminate so many uninsureds, thereby alleviating the states' obligation to pay part of the cost of charity care.
So much for lawsuits brought by states claiming that the Medicaid expansion will break their banks. Jennifer
