Here's the Republican Health Care Bill

The GOP has been reciting the mantra "repeal and replace" over and over again for months. Yesterday, they announced that they would hold their first vote next Wednesday. You'd think they'd maybe have thought through what they are going to do about the kids who got coverage in the past few months because there are no more pre-existing condition exclusions for children. You'd think they'd consider what to do for the seniors who were counting on a 50% discount on drugs during the Part D doughnut hole this year.

So I found the Bill and rolled up my sleeves ready to read what health care would look like in a GOP-run world. Here's what it says:

A BILL

To repeal the job-killing health care law and health care related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act’’.

SEC. 2. REPEAL OF THE JOB-KILLING HEALTH CARE LAW AND HEALTH CARE-RELATED PROVISIONS IN THE HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION RECONCILIATION ACT OF 2010.
(a) JOB-KILLING HEALTH CARE LAW.—Effective as of the enactment of Public Law 111–148, such Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted.
(b) HEALTH CARE-RELATED PROVISIONS IN THE HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION RECONCILIATION ACT OF 2010.—Effective as of the enactment of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Public Law 111–152), title I and subtitle B of title II of such Act are repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such title or subtitle, respectively, are restored or revived as if such title and subtitle had not been enacted.

That's it. That's the whole thing. Every word of it. Here -- read it for yourself. If you got your 25 year old child on your policy because of health reform, forget about it. If you enrolled in a Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, you lose your coverage. If you thought you no longer had a lifetime cap on benefits, you thought wrong. It's all gone, and nothing's in its place.
