A leukemia patient on chemotherapy was $0.01 short on her insurance premium and her policy was canceled. She never got a COBRA notice, so she calculated her rate as best she could and was off by one penny. Her insurance was canceled. The insurer eventually relented, but the story was public by then.
What is it about insurance companies? I get that they have rules, but it seems to me that, if they don't want more and more laws passed to regulate them, and if they don't want to be seen as evil, they could start by not doing stupid things like this. Jennifer
